Chief Operating Officer Azhar Ahmad told the news portal that the suspension of service was due to a technical problem in the automated handling system.
Azhar added Melaka Taming Sari Berhad had yet to apply thermoplastic paint to the rail track, leaving the service’s ability to operate safely in wet weather in doubt.
He said Monorel Melaka services was suspended on November 1 when two British tourists had to be rescued by firemen after train doors malfunctioned, and that SPAD had initially said operations could resume on November 24.
However, the company’s failure to meet the SPAD directive over the thermoplastic paint has led to the decision to suspend the service temporarily.
