After getting your SPM Result this morning, some of you might be thinking of what to do next. Below are the to-do list for those who wish to apply for a scholarship ( I would only suggest students who scored 9A-s and above to follow this list because that's the minimum requirement for most of the scholarships. For students who score slightly lower, don't worry. you would have another list prepared for you later. )
1. Photocopy your SPM result slip. Don't laminate ( There is always a chance for accidents to happen during the lamination process, for example, your result slip get burn. So, avoid it. ). Wrap with a clear transparent plastic bag/sheet.
2. Photocopy all your Co-curriculum certificates. The next day, bring all the photocopied ones to the school for the principal to verify. Please do this early if you wish to avoid troubles queuing up at your school office the week before Scholarship interview ( That's what happening at all the schools) Prepare approximately two to three copies for each of the certs depending on how many scholarships that you would like to apply.
3. Buy newspapers every day for roughly 2 weeks after you result. Do buy at least 2 newspapers of different languages to avoid missing any information. I would recommend Sin Chew Jit Poh and The Star.
4. Buy clear holder file to compile your certs. The details of how to compile in a better way will be posted later. So stay tuned.
5. Go online everyday to follow the latest news published.Keep visiting our site to get the latest information and this site would try to offer info that you can't get from there (more to how to stand a better chance to get a scholarship).
6. Be First to get the information but Don't be the first to take the steps. Wait for some time before you fill in forms online. Ask friends who have applied if there is any technical problems. If there is not any, you can start now. I am not teaching you to be cunning but to be smart. Because if you did anything wrong during the online application, you will face a lot of problems. You will have to report to the admin, then they take a few days to solve your problem and at last you would have to repeat the things that you have done, What for? Some of the online application forms would require you to write an essay. So to be smart, ask for the topics that your friend answered to prepare before you fill up the form. For your information, the online form that requires you to write an essay has time limit, don;t think that you can slowly draft, ask for editing from teachers, etc. You don't have time to do that if you do not know the topic beforehand.
7. Get a new notebook for information recording. Read the experience of the successful applicants. Don't just read, Analyze what they have done. Jot down the questions that they got from interviewers. Start thinking of good answers. I will be telling you how to answer questions later on.
8 List out the deadline and important dates for every scholarship.Use a planner as above. Avoid doing a vertical list like this:
