Semenyih 2000 gas cylinders explode

Penulis : Unknown on Tuesday, 28 February 2012 | 23:57

A fire at a liquefied petroleum gas bottling plant at Jalan Beranang here caused a commotion as 2,000 gas cylinders exploded in a series of enormous explosions.
The fire, which occurred around 8.30pm yesterday, destroyed the plant completely as well as razed a lorry, also loaded with gas cylinders.
No casualties or injuries were reported.
Tazrul Tahir, who lives near the scene, said he was at home when he heard the first explosion.
“I quickly went to the plant and saw the whole place on fire. Gas cylinders were flying' everywhere before exploding,” he said at the scene.

The 25-year-old banana plantation worker said he quickly backed off from the inferno as he feared for his safety.
Thirty firefighters from four stations Bangi, Mantin, Serdang and Seremban managed to put out the flames by 10pm.
Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Rashid Abdul Wahab said police were checking to see if the facility, which started operating about six weeks ago, had an operating license as it appeared to lack basic safety features.
“The building looks poorly built, with only a zinc roof and temporary walls.
“We are also looking for the plant operator who has gone missing,” ACP Abdul Rashid said.
