There have been a surge of 251 new acute gastroenteritis (AGE) cases in the Hilir Perak and Batang Padang districts today.
This comes a day after it was reported that there had been a dip in the number of such cases on Monday.
Today, a total of 251 new cases were detected in the two districts compared to only 131 yesterday.
Also, 15 people were admitted into hospitals in both districts compared to nine the day before.
State Health Committee chairman Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon however said there was no cause for concern.
He said the increase in the number of cases showed that the people were taking extra precautionary measure to prevent the from any untoward incident.
"Due to the awareness, more and more people are seeking early treatment," he said.
