Udhayanidhi Stallin, the producer turned actor, is in combo with Santhanam in his first film as an actor. The screen charmer, Hansika Motwani is the love interest of Udayanidhi. Oru Kal Oru Kannadi movie is produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin for Red Giant. The story is written by the director himself,M. Rajesh. Music is scored by Harris Jayaraj and cinematography is by Balasubramaniem. Vivek Harshan has done the editing part of the film. Now, lets read on and see how Oru Kal Oru Kannadi movie review goes.
Udhayanidhi Stalin’s maiden venture as hero is finally out. As expected with director M Rajesh and Santhanam around, it is a laughathon that begins from reel one. Spice it up with the beauty and glamour of Hansika Motwani and good music by Harris Jeyaraj, Oru Kal Oru Kannadi ends up a funny ride that is sure to make you sit and laugh it loud.
The highlight of Rajesh’s earlier films are colloquial wits and punchline with Santhanam hogging the limelight. Oru Kal Oru Kannadi is no different. The movie begins in a brik pace and there is no absolute story but situational comedies make it count. The whole movie begins on a flashback. Saravanan (Udhaynidhi) gets a wedding invitation of Meera (Hansika) asking him not to attend. Flashback reveals what transpired between them.
Saravanan and Parthasarathy (Santhanam) are good buddies. Both have a whale of time and spend all time together. Both work in a multiplex. One fine day, Saravanan comes across Meera and chase her till her house. He falls for her instantly. She hates his proposal. Now Saravanan takes the help of Partha. The duo goes hammer and tongs to see that Meera falls for Saravanan.
There are twists and turs, ut teir plans keep failing. Finally all ends well with a surprise. Rajesh gets the best from his artistes. Being a commercial film, the actors are not expected to be perfect in their emotions or expressions. The comedy aspect makes one forget all those even logics. Udhay, being a novice in acting, gets his act well. He sports a smiling look and does his part well. But his dancing skills needs to be improved. Hansika as bubbly Meera is cute and chubby. She plays a typical heroine of Tamil cinema. She refutes Saravanan’s love only to fall for him later. Interestingly she passes out in flying colours not just in romance but also in comedy.
The scene-stealer of course is Santhanam. He is the backbone of the movie getting the vision of Rajesh live on screen. His body language and dialogue delivery make one go in splits. Especailly the sequence in an aeroplane is a laugh riot. Sneha makes a cameo as air-hostess while Arya and Andrea appear as lovers in climax. Saranya, Azhagam perumal and Shayaji Shinde add colour to the story.
The one-liners , shrewd idea of Rajesh is remarkable and enjoyable. Cinematography by Balasubramaniem is another strength. City has been captured in bright colours while crisp editing by Vivek Harehan makes it racy.Harris Jeyaraj has caught the pulse of youngsters well. The songs Venam Machi… , Kadhal Oru.. and Akila AKila…. are catchy and foot-taping.Rajesh has made it three-ina-row now. After SMS and Boss Engira Baskaran, his good run continues with Oru Kal Oru Kannadi.
