Moderate quake hits North Indian Ocean

KUALA LUMPUR: A moderate earthquake with measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale occurred at 6.52am today in the North Indian Ocean.

Malaysia Meteorological Department in a statement here said the epicenter is located in North Indian Ocean, 675km Southwest of Great Nicobar, India and 1192 km to the Southwest of Kampar, Perak.      

 

No tsunami threat was detected, the statement added. -- BERNAMA
