Kim Her said that Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong's tournament schedule will remain due to their preparations for the London Olympics but that other pairs will be tested with new partners in the German Open (Feb 28-March 4), All England (March 6-11) and Swiss Open (March 13-18).
Goh V Shem-Teo Kok Siang will play in the All England and Swiss Open while Mak Hee Chun will be reunited with former partner Tan Wee Kiong, also for the All England and Swiss Open.
V Shem's current partner Lim Khim Wah will play in selected tournaments with Ong Jian Guo while Ong Soon Hock, who currently partners Hee Chun, will combine with Hoon Thien How.
Kim Her said he will now be able to test his potential combinations as the back-up pairs are not in the running to qualify for the Olympics any longer but the long-term changes will only take place after the Games.
"Kien Keat-Boon Heong's target is the Olympics while the others will be focusing on the 2016 Olympics. They will be tested with new partners from time to time," said Kim Her.
"Kok Siang forged a strong combination with Wei Shem before he got injured and went for an operation. He must be given an opportunity," said Kim Her.
"Hee Chun-Wee Kiong, who were our main back-up in 2010, lost their form but have shown a lot of improvement recently. Hee Chun has improved on his discipline and attitude and if they show promise in the All England and Swiss Open, I can give them a second chance.
"Kien Keat might also decide to retire if he wins a medal in London with Boon Heong, so we have to be prepared for that. It will be good if Kien Keat continues playing.
"Thien How will partner Soon Hock in some tournaments but will get a permanent partner after the Olympics. I will asses all their performances from time to time before finalising the pairings after the Olympics."
There has been speculation that Boon Heong may be paired with Thien How after the Olympics but that is only expected to happen if the former does poorly with Kien Keat in London. Should Kien Keat-Boon Heong continue their current progress, their future is secured at least for the next couple of years.
