Police ensure smooth traffic during Thaipusam

The police are ready to ensure public order and smooth traffic flow during the Thaipusam festival over three days from Monday as more than 1.6 million Hindus and tourists converge at the Sri Subramaniyar Temple in Batu Caves near here.


Visitors are advised to use public transportation and plan their journey. Several roads in the city would be closed in stages from 12.30 am to 2 pm on Monday during the procession of the chariot from the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple to Batu Caves

Roads to be closed as Jalan Tun H.S. Lee, Jalan Sultan, Jalan Pudu, Jalan Tun Perak, Jalan Leboh Ampang, Jalan Ampang, Jalan Munshi Abdullah, Jalan Dang Wangi, Jalan Raja Laut, Jalan Sri Amar, Jalan Tun Razak (U-turn in front of the Fire Station), Jalan Ipoh, Jalan Kovil Hilir, Lorong Kovil Hulu, Jalan Perhentian, Jalan Ipoh, Jalan Ipoh Batu 5 and Batu Caves. 

Several roads would also be closed from 4 pm on Wednesday to 2 am on Thursday when the chariot makes the return journey from Batu Caves to the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple.
 
They are Jalan Ipoh Batu 5, Jalan Ipoh, Jalan Perhentian, Lorong Kovil Hulu, Jalan Kovil Hilir, Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan Ipoh, Jalan Raja Laut, Jalan Dang Wangi, Jalan Munshi Abdullah, Jalan Ampang, Jalan Leboh Ampang, Jalan Tun Perak, Jalan Sultan, Jalan Hang Kasturi, Jalan Hang Lekir and Jalan Tun H.S Lee
